About GASA

A BRIEF HISTORY

Greater America Siquiorian Association (GASA) is a non-profit mutual benefit and social organization. It is also non-political, non-sectarian and non-racial. The main purpose of the organization is to provide financial assistance, by assessment, to survivors of members upon their demise. The members are Siquijorians and descendants of Siquijorians who are residents of Greater America.
In the Visayan dialect spoken in Siquijor, GASA also means "gift"
GiftBox (7k), the essence of the association. GASA was first organized as Lazi USA in January 1984 and re-organized as GASA in November of the same year.  GASA was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the State of California, USA on January 1994 and was approved as tax exempt by the Franchise Tax Board and Internal Revenue Service in February 1994. At present there are more than 100 registered members of the organization.

The association holds fundraising events and other social activities to generate its financial assets. It also accepts donations, cash and in kind, from anyone who wish to contribute to worthy causes and projects.
